Dentium Reinforces Fundamentals with Hands-On “Essentials of Implant Dentistry – Basic Course”

Dentium recently hosted its “Essentials of Implant Dentistry – Basic Course” seminar on February 21–22 at the Dentium Knowledge Industry Center, targeting public health dentists and dental residents.
As one of Dentium’s long-running educational programs, the course was designed to establish a strong foundation in implant surgery principles while improving participants’ ability to apply them in daily clinical practice.
The seminar featured lectures by Dr. Jung-Hyun Kim (Shintong Regeneration Dental Clinic) and Dr. Byung-Gyu Park (Seoul Pill Dental Clinic), who structured the program around a complete clinical workflow
—from surgical planning and implant placement to soft tissue management and digital prosthetic integration.
Rather than focusing solely on theory, the course emphasized practical decision-making processes and treatment strategies commonly encountered in real-world practice.
On the first day, Dr. Kim delivered a lecture titled “Simple Surgery,” focusing on the core principles of implant surgery and treatment approaches utilizing Dentium’s bright Implant system.
He highlighted the importance of soft tissue management in achieving predictable restorative outcomes from the initial placement stage through final prosthetic delivery.
The lecture was intentionally structured in a step-by-step format, allowing less experienced clinicians to immediately translate the concepts into clinical application.
Dr. Kim also discussed key considerations in implant selection, including primary stability, adaptability to varying bone qualities, and long-term clinical reliability.
Particular attention was given to Dentium’s SLA surface treatment technology, which promotes osseointegration through optimized surface roughness and acid-etched microstructures, contributing to improved initial stability.
In addition, clinical cases utilizing Short & Narrow bright Implants demonstrated how predictable treatment planning can be achieved even in sites with limited bone height or width,
often without the need for additional bone grafting procedures. These approaches highlighted potential benefits such as simplified surgical protocols, reduced surgical burden, and improved patient satisfaction.
On the second day, Dr. Park presented “Digital Surgery,” introducing a digital implant workflow centered on bright CT data and Dentium’s Digital Guide software.
Participants were guided through each stage of the workflow, including digital treatment planning, implant positioning, and guided surgery protocols using the Guide Kit system.
Special focus was placed on how the guided surgical kit, including the Lindemann Drill configuration, contributes to accurate and reproducible implant placement.
Dr. Park emphasized that identifying anatomical risk factors and incorporating them into the planning phase is one of the key advantages of digital implant surgery.
He noted that accurate planning is particularly important for less experienced clinicians, as it can help reduce surgical time while increasing procedural predictability.
Multiple clinical cases were presented to illustrate these concepts in practice.

The program concluded with a hands-on session using porcine jaw models, allowing participants to perform the complete workflow firsthand—from bright Implant placement to Digital Abutment connection and Collagen Graft application.
Through direct practice, attendees were able to experience the integration of surgical and prosthetic procedures within a unified treatment protocol, including soft tissue management, depth control, and abutment handling.
Participants responded positively to the program, noting that the course helped them understand implant treatment as a continuous workflow rather than a series of isolated procedures
, while also providing practical clinical guidelines that could be immediately implemented.
Following the success of the Basic Course, Dentium plans to continue expanding its educational platform with the “Essentials of Implant Dentistry – Advanced Course,” scheduled for August 22–23.
The advanced program will focus on complex clinical cases and step-by-step surgical strategies aimed at further improving treatment predictability through systematic and continuous implant education.
